 LET THE ENCHANTMENT OF ROMANCE AND THE MAGIC OF ROSES BEGIN!!!!

 Spice up your relationship and turn an ordinary day into an extraordinary day you will both remember. Select your favorite and have fun!

* Send your partner a dozen roses of their favorite color along with a check for a hundred kisses.

* Order a dozen roses, eleven red and one white. In your personal message write something like: “In every bunch there’s one that stands out – and you are that one”.

* Want your partners’ eyes to glow? Order a bouquet of different colored roses and place each one in a different place in your home. Where you place the dozen roses, also place a small card (decorate it nicely if you like) where it will state the meaning of each colored rose and how that meaning fits in with your lives.

* When you pick up your partner have a single rose waiting on the passenger seat for him/her. He/she will be pleasantly surprised but the real surprise is yet to come… Have two dozen roses waiting at home.

* Give a bunch of long stem roses for no reason. That will sure surprise.

* Dress your bed with a white satin cover and scatter red rose petals all over. Light candles, put some soft music, have fun!

* Order 11 roses and in the bouquet put an artificial one that looks real. On your card write something like: “I will love you till the last rose withers.”

* Get a journal (buy the same color journal to go with the color of roses you are going to send) and fill it with romantic quotes and love poems. Tie a ribbon around the book and give to your partner along with your dozen rose gifts.

* Another variation to buying a journal and filling it with quotes is to write all the memorable moments you have shared and how you felt during those times. Like the first time you met, etc. Telling the other person how you feel always makes that person feel special. Of course accompany this with a beautiful bouquet of roses, or even one long stem rose.

* Send your partner a dozen roses – Surprise number one. When they’re wilted, turn the rose petals into potpourri, put in a nice decorative box and this is surprise number two. Your partner will be delighted with your thoughtfulness.

* Leave a trail of roses leading from the front door to the dining room where you have laid the table with fine dining wear and candles ready to enjoy a romantic dinner. Leave another trail of roses leading from the dining room to the bedroom. Scatter some red rose petals on your bed.

* Write a long love letter telling your partner why you love him/her. List in it all their good qualities. Write down all the things he/she does that makes you feel special. Write down how you see your future together and anything else you can think of. A better idea would be to write all this stuff in a journal so it can keep longer. Accompany with a dozen of their favorite colored roses.

* Write a love letter to your partner and put it into an attractive glass bottle. Fill the tub and scent it with your favorite aromatic bath oil(s). Scatter in a few rose petals and put the bottle in the tub. Let your partner discover it for themselves when they get into the tub.

* Give your partner 11 roses and tape the last one to the mirror of your bathroom. Tell him/her to go to the bathroom where they will see the last rose along with your message that says ‘these are the 12 most beautiful things in the world.’

* Buy a bunch of different colored artificial roses. On each rose write what each color represents. These roses will last forever and your partner when they look at them will always be pleasantly reminded of the first time they receive them.

* Place a rose on the windshield of your partner’s car which they will see and be delighted by before they leave for work. This will make them think beautiful thoughts about you all day. Then when they get home, present them with the rest of the 11 roses.

* Lay a white sheet on the floor of your bedroom/living room or wherever else. Scatter rose petals on it, place candles around the sheet, put on soft music and have your partner lay there and give them a massage.

* If you have a spare key to your partners car and know where they park during the day, while they are at work, put a bunch of roses in the car seat along with a note. They will be pleasantly surprised that you were there during the day.

* Present your partner with 10 red roses and 2 white roses. Write in the card something along the lines of “You will never be alone”.

* Two weeks before Valentine’s Day, send your partner a rose for every day leading up to the big day. For the day arrange to do something you don’t usually do as a special treat to celebrate.

* Make a list of the qualities you love about your partner. Write each one individually on a small card and hang off each rose.

108. If you are in the military or have a long distant relationship with your spouse or loved one, try creating a jewelry box. The language of flowers is a lost art, but some strive to keep the meaning alive through websites. The Victorian era gave rise to “meaning” behind flowers. But just as the Eskimo language has several words for “snow”, the floral language may have several meanings for the same flower. For centuries, flowers, herbs and various plants have given much pleasure to people of all nations, because their beauty has the unique ability to bring cheer when someone is ill or downhearted, their fragrances can be used to make lovely perfumes, delicate foliage can be used for certain medicines and foods, and pungent smells can bestir mood.
In fact, they have been so outstanding in this regard, that there is no wonder that mankind has attached significant meanings to them . . . actually going as far as to formulate a language all their own called “fluorography.” This “language” was particularly utilized during the Victorian era; however, flowers well into past generations have had religious and symbolic meanings, and still do today.
For example, there were references given to flowers, herbs and plants in Biblical times, and during the Middle Age, Herbs were even believed by some to have magical powers. Therefore, they were given a place of honor in the royal floral gardens. The use of these floral gardens existed well into the Victorian Era and helped to create the elaborate list of meanings to describe these beloved flowers.
History relates that during the reign of Queen Victoria in England, which lasted from 1837 to 1901, (known as the Victorian era) the language of flowers was as important to people as being “well dressed.” For example, the recognizable scent of a particular flower, plant or perhaps a scented handkerchief sent its own unique message.
Flowers adorned almost everything . . . hair, clothing, jewelry, gowns, men’s lapels, home décor and china, and stationery, to name a few. A young man could either please or displease a lady . . . by his gift of flowers. Valentine’s day is right around the corner. And since most guys procrastinate when it comes to planning for this particular holiday (and most holidays, if we’re being honest), I want to issue a friendly wake-up call to all the men out there:
If Valentine’s day is important to your partner, it should be important to you too.
Whenever I say this to a guy, he will generally stare at me, slack jawed, as if I were speaking some foreign language. But every now and then, the guy will actually argue with me, offering up one of these gems:
• Valentine’s Day is a commercial Holiday designed to sell stuff. Case closed.
• Who cares how I treat my wife on one particular day of the year? It’s how I treat her the other 364 days that counts!
• A Valentine’s Day gift doesn’t say anything about how much I love my wife!
And of course, there’s truth in all of these arguments. But unless your partner shares your disdain for Valentine’s Day, these arguments are generally cop-outs for the sort of procrastination that forces you to make a last-minute pit-stop at the local Wal-Mart for a bouquet of silk roses and a box of stale chocolates.
Hey, if you’re really on your game, you might end up with one of those furry toy gorillas that sings “Be My Baby” when you press its foot.
Come on now. How old are you?
Truth be told, I like buying silly toy gifts as much as the next guy, and if you’re lucky, your wife or girlfriend (hopefully you don’t have both!) will like them too. I’m lucky: my wife loves anything I buy her. But that’s not really the point.
The point is that I know Valentine’s Day is important to my wife, so I owe it to her (and to myself) to make sure it’s important to me too.
And as much as I love those singing toy gorillas and giant stuffed frogs, I know my gift would mean so much more to her if it really came from the heart, an honest expression of love and gratitude instead of an obligatory gesture.
If your wife likes corny gifts (or thinks the whole idea of Valentine’s Day is silly), by all means, carry on with your bad self. On the other hand, if you think your lady would appreciate something a little more thoughtful, here are 10 ways to inspire her this Valentine’s Day. While I can’t promise that she’ll love all these ideas, each has been fully endorsed by my own personal Romance Consultant: my wife.

1. Cook dinner for her: The less comfortable you are in the kitchen, the more significant this gesture will seem. The one time I cooked dinner for my wife, she was very impressed! And bless her heart, to this day, she swears it tasted good despite the fact that I know my Alfredo sauce tasted like schoolhouse paste.
2. Cook breakfast in bed with a single rose: In general, breakfast is easier to prepare than dinner. Hey, even I can make pancakes! Put a rose in a little glass vase and place it on the tray next to the food.
3. Do her half of the chores: This one admittedly works a lot better if you’re cohabitating with your significant other because, in most households, the man and woman split the chores in some way or another. Pick a chore-heavy day during the week of Valentine’s Day and, on that day, do all the household chores yourself. If she normally takes out the trash, do it for her. If she normally does laundry, do that too. But remember, you are not allowed to do man-laundry. And yes, you know what I mean. Man laundry is when you throw the darks in with the lights and let the whole mess turn purple. Don’t do it!
4. Run a romantic bath with rose petals and candles: Don’t forget the bubble bath!
5. Treat her to a day at the spa: Does she like back rubs, face packs, and other typical spa trappings? Well then?
6. Go see a movie that she wants to see: Guys, for a lot of you, this one’s going to hurt. But if she really wants to go see Legally Blonde 3 (or whatever), take her. It takes a real man to sit through a chick flick without having a fit!
7. Take her some place she’s always wanted to go: If money is no object, you have a lot more options, including a weekend mini-vacation. But you can do this on the cheap too. Is there a local restaurant she’s always wanted to visit? A show she’s always wanted to see?
8. Send her flowers at work: My wife tells me the primary attraction is the reaction all her female co-workers have. “Oh girl, your man cares enough to send you flowers? My man never sends me anything!” Whatever the attraction, this works.
9. Revisit someplace romantic that’s of historical significance to your relationship: The restaurant where you proposed? The ice rink where you took her on your second date?
10. Become her personal massage therapist: Buy a book that will teach you how to give a real back-rub. Read it. Put the book on her nightstand along with a note that says you’ve spent the last week reading it and are now prepared to give her an all over body massage whenever she likes. At the bottom of your note, attach homemade coupons that she can cash in for a free massage whenever the mood strikes her.
Okay, yes, I’m making some generalizations in this post. I admit it. And yes, I’m sure the world is full of women who hate Valentine’s Day and men who fall all over themselves to celebrate it with style. Furthermore, I’m sure the world is full of men who love chick flicks and who always separate their whites from their colors. So if anyone found this post to be unbearably sexist, please allow me to apologize.
My opinion? I think the generalizations I’ve made here are close enough for government work, as they say. After all, this post is supposed to be fun!

The use of these floral gardens existed well into the Victorian Era and helped to create the elaborate list of meanings to describe these beloved flowers.

History relates that during the reign of Queen Victoria in England, which lasted from 1837 to 1901, (known as the Victorian era) the language of flowers was as important to people as being “well dressed.” For example, the recognizable scent of a particular flower, plant or perhaps a scented handkerchief sent its own unique message.

Flowers adorned almost everything . . . hair, clothing, jewelry, gowns, men’s lapels, home décor and china, and stationery, to name a few. A young man could either please or displease a lady . . . by his gift of flowers. Flowers would convey messages of love or dislike depending upon which ones were given, their sizes, how they were held or also grouped together. They had a silent meaning of their very own, and could say what was not dared to be spoken. Even the manner in which flowers were sent had a special meaning. A flower presented in an upright position represented a “positive thought; whereas one presented in the opposite direction had a negative meaning”. Also, a person could say “yes” by offering a flower with the right hand – the left hand “no.”
